Here's Johnny! JOHNNY CARSON has topped a list of the 50 greatest TV icons, as determined by Entertainment Weekly magazine and TV Land, which will count down all 50 picks in a special this Friday at 8 p.m. ET. You can also read about the list in a special issue of Entertainment Weekly that hits newsstands Friday. If you disagree with Carson as the top icon, you'll have the chance to send a text message with your selection during Friday night's TV Land special.

The list is comprised of 29 men, 17 women, two non-humans, one animated character and one ensemble cast. A dozen of the icons hail from the 1950s and '60s, 21 are remembered for their work in the '70s and '80s, and another 17 created their legacies in the '90s and 2000s.

Here's a look at the top 10 TV icons.

3. Oprah Winfrey
4. Bill Cosby
5. Walter Cronkite
6. Carol Burnett
7. Mary Tyler Moore
8. Jerry Seinfeld
9. Homer Simpson

The 50 Greatest

The two-hour special The 50 Greatest TV Icons premieres November 16th at 8 p.m. on TV Land, while the list will be featured in Entertainment Weekly, hitting newsstands the same day. The special will feature interviews and archival clips from the celebrities on the list, as well as those who have been influenced by them...

*These Entertainment Weekly shows are way better that the I Love the 90's Part 37 type "specials" on VH1 and E! At least mostly real people comment on THESE shows, unlike the comics making a career on the I Love shows...
