DWTS Shocker!

SABRINA BRYAN had the talent to become the next Dancing with the Stars champion, but she just didn't have the support of the viewers. In one of the most shocking upsets in the reality show's five-season history, the star of Disney Channel's The Cheetah Girls and her pro partner, MARK BALLAS, were voted out of the competition last night. Bryan had established herself during the early rounds as arguably the most skilled celebrity dancer on the show, especially after she received the first perfect score of the current season. Evidently, the home audience was not entertained by her foxtrot on Monday night's performance show.

The results shocked host TOM BERGERON and the three judges, and Bryan herself shed tears before her final dance with Ballas. Soap star CAMERON MATHISON also fell into the bottom two, but staved off elimination. For the second time in nearly a month, celebrity contestant JANE SEYMOUR did not attend a results show. KABC-TV reports that the actress was not present for last night's episode due to a case of food poisoning for which she was taken to a hospital. Seymour also missed a results show earlier this month after her mother passed away.

BARRY MANILOW did make a guest appearance on last night's show, performing twice. Dancing with the Stars continues this Monday night.

*WOW...I don't even really watch DWTS, but even I knew she was good...wonder if NBA ref's have anything to do with the voting...that Mark Cuban did get kicked off...hmmmmm

Brooke, Brooke, Brooke...

BROOKE SHIELDS is an actress, but she'll never be a house remodeler or a race car driver. The 42-year-old star tells the TV show Extra she pulled her car up to her house recently and accidentally crashed into a pillar out front.

Shields blames the accident on the platform heels she was wearing that day. The actress says she went to step on the brake and discovered she couldn't get her foot off the gas because the wedge was jammed underneath. She ended up giving the car even more gas. Shields said she was fine but the pillar was totaled and had to be replaced

A Los Angeles judge ruled yesterday that 30 Rock star TRACY MORGAN has completed his probation stemming from a DUI case. Morgan also escaped penalty for removing his alcohol-monitoring bracelet earlier than scheduled, after the judge reviewed several letters from doctors and the company that produces the bracelet.

Morgan had said he removed the bracelet early due to an undisclosed medical issue.Morgan was forced to wear the bracelet in connection with a DUI arrest in New York last year. He was then ordered in September to wear the device for an additional 80 days after he admitted to consuming alcohol the previous month.

Morgan received three years' probation in 2006 stemming from a drunk-driving arrest in Los Angeles.

*Is this the Big TV Page, or the Police Blotter?

Well, at least he has some experience...

Former Prison Break star LANE GARRISON faces up to six years and eight months behind bars today when he is sentenced in Beverly Hills for a DUI accident last December that killed a teenager. Prosecutors say the 27-year-old actor's blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit when he slammed his SUV into a tree, killing a 17-year-old passenger.

Cops say the actor was also under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash.Garrison has pleaded guilty to DUI, vehicular manslaughter and providing alcohol to a minor. TMZ.com reports friends and family members of the victim went to a Beverly Hills court Tuesday to present a judge with a petition signed by 36 hundred signatures. The petition demands the maximum sentence for Garrison.

Garrison's former Prison Break co-star, WENTWORTH MILLER, says the situation is a tragedy for everyone involved.

*Sorry...Halloween shouldn't be so depressing...

House mirrors House

Turns out the actor who plays the unhappy Dr. Gregory House has more in common with him than we knew. HUGH LAURIE, who temporarily left his hit show House last week because of unspecified family obligations, says he suffers from "mild depression" for which he is seeing a therapist periodically. But Laurie tells Australia's The Sunday Telegraph that his ailment is not related to what he describes as his neurotic attitude about his show. He says, quote, "Every show we do is a disaster, I'm convinced of it. I go home and my head is full of all the mistakes I've made."The 48-year-old Laurie says he feels drained by the production of House, which entails 14-hour work days, five days per week. The British actor says he and his family -- his wife and three kids live in his native England -- try to see each other as much as possible. Laurie reportedly returned to work earlier this week following his unexpected leave last Thursday. The reason for his brief detour wasn't addressed in the Telegraph's story.

Ratings Rant

The Boston Red Sox carried Fox to a ratings victory last week. Each win in the team's four-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies in the World Series entered the Nielsen's top 15. Boston's championship-clinching victory Sunday night was seen by nearly 21 million viewers, trailing only last week's edition of Dancing with the Stars.

NBC, on the other hand, is still in a ratings slump. CRISS ANGEL's new reality series, Phenomenon, didn't live up to its title, ranking 45th in the Nielsens. And Bionic Woman continues to prove it's not bulletproof -- last week's episode was only viewed by 7.81 million people, six million less than its premiere show.

Fox was first in the ratings race last week, followed by ABC, CBS, NBC, the CW, MyNetworkTV and ION Television.

Here are the top 10 primetime programs for the week of October 22nd-28th, according to Nielsen Media Research:
1. Dancing with the Stars (Monday), ABC, 21.37 million viewers.
2. World Series, Boston at Colorado (Game 4), Fox, 20.95 million viewers.
3. Desperate Housewives, ABC, 18.28 million viewers.
4. Grey's Anatomy, ABC, 18.18 million viewers.
5. House, Fox, 18.11 million viewers.
6. Dancing with the Stars (Tuesday), ABC, 18.06 million viewers.
7. NCIS, CBS, 17.26 million viewers.
8. World Series, Colorado at Boston (Game 2), Fox, 16.95 million viewers.
9. World Series, Colorado at Boston (Game 1), Fox, 16.90 million viewers.
10. CSI: Miami, CBS, 15.67 million viewers.

*Gee..no one was watching Game 3 of the World Series on Saturday? Can't believe that!

What's the Deal?

ELLEN DEGENERES will be the first celebrity spokesmodel on NBC's Deal or No Deal. That's right -- it looks like Ellen will don a dress to be among the 26 briefcase-bearing beauties for her good friend, Deal or No Deal host HOWIE MANDEL. TV Guide reports that the show will be taped November 9th to air sometime in January 2008. Will Ellen be holding the million-dollar briefcase? Heck, more important than that: Will Ellen really wear a dress? Ellen's fans may -- or may not -- find out first, since Degeneres will bring her own film crew to the game show set, and tease her audience with a segment next month.

In other Deal or No Deal news, TV Guide reports that mid-December will bring "What's the Deal?" week, with the show airing every night with special guests and surprises. On December 12th, the accounting staff on the NBC comedy The Office guest stars, and ANGELA KINSEY, BRIAN BAUMGARTNER and OSCAR NUNEZ will all remain in character for the game show and assist a contestant who has trouble with numbers. And if you needed another reason to tune in to "What's the Deal?" week, all 26 ladies will be wearing bikinis every night.

Brian Stelter writes this piece on "TV decoder.com"..for those of you who don't know who Stelter is, he writes a TV blog for the New York Times... nuff said!

The impending writers’ strike would obviously be bad news for viewers, who would likely see repeats and reality shows start to crowd out scripted shows during prime time. In the wee hours, late-night hosts would probably have to spend a lot of time winging it.
But advertisers would also suffer “and would make networks share their pain,” the Associated Press notes. In the event of a strike, media buyers are “not going to get what they paid for,” says analyst Shari Anne Brill of Carat USA. “There will be severe under-delivery [of viewers] on the schedule if you get repeats and less-desirable reality shows. It puts the networks in a horrific make-good situation.”As noted by today’s Los Angeles Times, “the danger is that TV viewers, without their favorite shows, would turn to the Internet and other forms of entertainment that are increasingly grabbing younger audiences.”
Representatives for the studios and the Writer’s Guild of America will meet again on Tuesday, this time with a federal mediator present. The WGA contract expires Wednesday night.

The studios have been planning for this for over a year...there are tons of new shows "in the can" and don't think every reality show that HASN'T been pitched and produced won't be ready to air a week after the strike hits...up next on CBS...it's Survivor...Burger King Bathroom!

NBC still plans Leno Outser

If "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno is having second thoughts about surrendering his job as planned, NBC doesn't share them -- at least not publicly.
"Conan O'Brien will take over `The Tonight Show' in 2009," NBC Universal President and CEO Jeff Zucker said Monday in New York at an event arranged by Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Zucker said he'd like Leno to remain with the company and that "we are in those conversations now."
"I'm hopeful that Jay will be with us," the executive told the question-and-answer session.
A deal for Leno's exit was finalized three years ago as part of NBC Universal's effort to keep "Late Night" host O'Brien from bolting to a competing network. Leno marked his 15th year as host of "Tonight" last May.
Leno has said he's comfortable with his planned departure but, according to a report earlier this month in the Los Angeles Times, the comedian has grown reluctant to retire as host of the fabled, top-rated late-night program.
Leno declined comment on the Times report when it was published. He had no comment Monday on Zucker's remarks, an NBC spokeswoman said

*NBC just doesn't learn from it's past...Look for Leno to move to FOX if he leaves NBC..they have the money, and the spot (11:30 eastern) for him...

Dancing "Stars" Get PAID!

I learn something new everyday, and this weekend I learned that the celebrities on Dancing with the Stars collect a paycheck. I thought they were just there to boost their careers and lose some weight! According to Parade, the celebs get $125-thousand for the first two weeks, and $20 grand for each week they survive the show. So when they jump up and down after the learn they're not going to be booted, there's more to it than dancing!!!

The Verdict

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Women's cable channel Lifetime has ordered a pilot for a judicial-themed drama tentatively titled "The Verdict." The story centers on the "crime of the century" trial of a female celebrity who has been accused of having her lover murdered. Shooting will start next month in Philadelphia.

She can't escape it either!

Like the rest of us, Mariska Hargitay can't seem to get away from the "Law & Order" series either.
While in Hawaii, the actress from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" turned on a television and the show was on.
"I was like, 'Argh, I can't get away from it.' I turned it off and ran outside and of course people were like, 'Oh my God you're on TV right now!" the television detective told Newsweek magazine for editions on newsstands Monday.
Being a celebrity sometimes has its perks, especially when the Emmy winner gets stopped by a police officer.
"The cops in New York and L.A. have been, how shall I say, very patient. I've gotten a couple of warnings but they've been very gracious. There's definitely a bond, a rapport, with law enforcement," she said.
"Special Victims Unit," in its ninth season, is part of NBC's long-running trio of "Law & Order" series. The original "Law & Order" is in its 17th season, while "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is in its sixth year
