Dani California

THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS filed suit against Showtime Networks and the creator and executive producer of the new series Californication yesterday for unfair competition involving alleged misuse of the band's intellectual property. Californication, of course, is the title of the Chili Peppers' 1999 album. The suit seeks a permanent injunction barring Showtime from using the word californication in its TV program, music or memorabilia. RHCP frontman ANTHONY KIEDIS says, quote, "For some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right." The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and seeks unspecified damages.
