TV Hullabloo

The Food Network has turned EMERIL LAGASSE's oven off. The celebrity chef's show, Emeril Live, will end production December 10th after ten years on the air. The network says Lagasse is still under contract and it looks forward to working with him on other projects, including his other network show, The Essence of Emeril...





NBC is adding American Gladiators to its Sunday night lineup beginning January 6th. HULK HOGAN and former Dancing With the Stars contestant and boxer LAILA ALI will host the show, which features amateur athletes competing in combat games against a cast of "gladiators." The show first aired in syndication in the 1990s...







People magazine reports CHARISMA CARPENTER of TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel has split from her husband of four years. Carpenter played Cordelia Chase on both shows. The 37-year-old actress married DAMIAN HARDY in October 2002 and gave birth to a son the following March. Carpenter, who also starred in Veronica Mars, will be seen next as CHRISTOPHER TITUS' wife in ABC's Big Shots December 13th...



MEL TOLKIN, the former head writer for SID CAESAR's Your Show of Shows and a writer and story editor for All in the Family, died of heart failure Monday in Los Angeles. He was 94. As head writer for Your Show of Shows, Tolkin supervised a writing staff that included NEIL SIMON, WOODY ALLEN, MEL BROOKS and LARRY GELBART, the man who brought M*A*S*H* to television. Tolkin also wrote material for BOB HOPE, DANNY THOMAS and JERRY LEWIS...
